U.W.P.S. Crime Report– Week of Oct. 28 to Nov. 3, 2014

False Fire Alarm:

At 3:48 a.m. on Oct. 28th U.W.P.S. officers and Waterloo Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Wellesley Court North. A search of the building revealed there was no fire and the alarm was caused by someone activating the pull station alarm across form room 129.

This type of incident is taken very seriously by U.W.P.S.  It results in a danger to people inside the building who have to evacuate. There is also a danger created for the fire departments and other emergency services personnel who respond in the belief there is a fire. When determined to be a false alarm it is recognized as a major inconvenience for the occupants and results in disruption to classes.  These incidents are rigorously investigated by police and where those responsible are identified they will be charged criminally.
