While the uprisings have developed very differently in different countries, there is one thing that can be said with certitude: the Middle East will never be the same. From the euphoria that followed the fall of Mubarak, to the escalating violence spreading throughout Syria, and everything in between, new realities require urgent changes in our policies.

Half Widows are women whose husbands have ‘disappeared’ in Kashmir but have not yet been declared deceased. Disappearances in Kashmir have recently made headlines again after a Kashmiri Government agency’s disclosure of “mass graves” in the Indian-administered Kashmir Valley.
