Jacqueline Armstrong Gates is a partner in Gowlings' Waterloo region office specializing in civil litigation, with an emphasis on commercial and banking litigation, insurance and professional liability, restructuring and insolvency and product liability.
Jacqueline has argued cases in the Ontario Court of Appeal, Divisional Court and has represented parties at trials in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Prior to joining Gowlings in 1999, she practised at two major firms in Toronto and London.
She is the Advocacy Department head for the Waterloo Region office.
Jacqueline is presently an Ontario Bar Association (OBA) Awards Committee member and OBA JUST Publication editorial board member. Active in her community, Jacqueline is a Brigadoon Public School volunteer and a member of the Queen’s Law ’94 Fundraising Committee. She is also a former member of the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery Fundraising Committee, a former volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity Build and the Food Bank, former board member of the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, a former member of the Galt Country Club, a former chair of the Ontario Bar Association Kitchener Waterloo Law Day, a former executive member of the Ontario Bar Association, a former chair of the Ontario Bar Association Awards Committee and Law Day chair. She has also delivered Christmas hampers for the past several years and volunteered with the Angel Tree gift giving program.
Jacqueline obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Waterloo in 1991.
