Waterloo is a magnet for innovators and disruptors.

So, it is no surprise that tomorrow our University will welcome a diverse group of business leaders to our Waterloo Innovation Summit.

Fall welcome

The Fall is one of my favourite times to be on campus. The season is marked by the enthusiasm of new students, as well as renewed comradery for those returning and refreshed commitment from faculty and staff.

Celebrating 150 years of Canadian innovation

Mihaela Vlasea

As we celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary of confederation, it's time to reflect on the innovations that have shaped the field of science — and what the next 150 years might bring.

2016 Year in Review

2016 has been a great year for UWaterloo, thanks to all the hard work of so many students, staff, faculty, partners and friends.

I can't wait to start the new year with you, in celebration of Waterloo's 60 years of innovation.

Until then, here's a recap of some great experiences and events we had in 2016.

As we mark National Philanthropy Day for the fifth year, I’d like to personally thank everyone who supports the University of Waterloo and the Affiliated and Federated Institutions of Waterloo through charitable giving and volunteer efforts.

Growing Waterloo's profile in Asia

#UWaterloo Delegation Team

For the last week and a bit, I've had the honour of leading our annual president's delegation to East Asia. This year our travels took us to Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China, to maintain and build partnerships that will serve Waterloo well for years to come.

Lest We Forget - Remembrance Day 2016

Text saying On November 11, We Remember in a field of poppies

Seventy five years ago next month, in December 1941, a thousand Canadians stood in defence of a small city off the China coast. More than half would suffer death or injury, and those who survived would go on only to capture, and often to torture.

It's been great spending time in East Asia with our incredible alumni and partners for the past week. We'll continue our efforts building institutional partnerships and connecting with University of Waterloo community members in this region until November 13, when our annual visit to this beautiful part of the world comes to an end.
