I want to take a moment to welcome Jay Shah as our new Velocity director. Welcome to the team, Jay!
As you may know — you can read the news release and Daily Bulletin coverage if you haven’t seen them yet —Jay is a former startup co-founder and Waterloo alumnus, and joins us from Google, where he’s worked since the tech giant acquired his firm, Bufferbox, in 2012.
It’s great to have Jay at the helm of Velocity at such an exciting time. In just the last year Velocity has become the largest free startup incubator in the world, opened an on-campus science lab to develop new science startups, and developed a discovery space on main campus. It’s all systems go for entrepreneurship at UWaterloo.
Jay brings not only a founder’s mentality and experience to Velocity, but as a Velocity alumnus himself, he also brings a deep knowledge of the different paths that Waterloo students can take toward entrepreneurship. He’ll be a phenomenal advocate for our students and a great role model for our student-and-alumni entrepreneurs.
He’ll hit the ground running in September, with the support of his excellent Velocity team mates.
See you soon, Jay!
