Welcome back to campus!
I hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday break with family and friends.
The start of any term is an exciting moment as this is the time where we can dream about the endless possibilities and discoveries ahead.
Hold onto that excitement and leverage it to drive you to try new things, take risks and lean out of your comfort zone. You can start by getting connected with the campus community and strengthen your network.
I encourage you to take a few minutes next Thursday and Friday to visit the Student Life Centre for the Clubs and Societies Days. Explore the range of student run clubs and societies that peak your interest and build a community of friends, colleagues and supporters. It makes a world of difference in and out of the classroom.
I also need your help. Tell us about the things that you experienced in your previous term that we could have done better. It may take a few minutes of your time, but would love to hear from you. Also, share some of the things that you found helpful and positive; we still want to further improve.
Winter Term also comes with its own unique stress, always know that you are not alone. You have a community of Warriors behind you every step of the way. If you feel the stress is getting too much, please reach out to Counselling Services that offers one-on-one counselling, group therapy, peer support and workshops to help. We are here for you.
I cannot wait to see what the Winter Term brings for all of you this year. Remember that you can find me on Twitter at @UWaterlooPres and I hope to hear from you.
