Admission Requirements for Psychology Programs

For admission to either a regular or a co-op Psychology program, you must meet the following criteria:
  • Minimum average requirements as listed below. Averages are cumulative and include any courses taken at UWaterloo to date.​
  • Successful completion of PSYCH 101 and 1 discipline core course (PSYCH 207, 211, 238, 253, 257, 261) meeting the minimum Psych average requirement.

70% in Psychology, and the average requirement specified for the second Major

May be added to any Honours Psych plan, with the exception of Honours BSc Psych

Honours Psych Departmental Co-op

In addition to the above program criteria,

  • Successful completion of the Math background required for enrolment in PSYCH 292 (must take PSYCH 292 Winter 2018).
    • If the Math requirement is incomplete, you must enrol in MATH 103 Fall 2018 (please pre-enrol during Course Selection in May). Direct requests to take an approved substitute to MATH 103 to the Psychology Undergraduate Advisor (PAS 3007)
  • Successful completion of the English Language Proficiency Requirement.
  • A maintained Psych average above the minimum required in the 2A Fall term (70% for Arts, 75% for Science). 
  • Enrolment in and completion of PSYCH 291 Fall 2018.

Decisions for Fall 2018 (2A year/level) admission will be made in May 2018.

Students admitted to co-op will not have co-op shown on their program on Quest until the 2B Winter term, as this is the first term that students go through the co-op job application process and pay the first co-op fee.
