Priority enrolment for Advanced Research Methods courses and Honours Seminars - Fall 2013 / Winter 2014 / Spring 2014

The Psychology Department reserves the right to implement priority enrolment for limited enrolment courses.

The intent of priority enrolment for Advanced Research Methods Courses and Honours Seminars is to:

  1. allocate spaces as fairly as possible and
  2. to facilitate the ability of students to complete their degree requirements during a reasonable time frame.

Requests for these courses will be prioritized at the discretion of the academic advisors in the Psychology Undergraduate Office. See below for further details.

We thank you for your cooperation in meeting these goals.

Priority enrolment for advanced research methods courses

  1. Social Science (SS) Advanced Research Methods courses:

You are only allowed to take 1 of Psych 393, 395, 397, 399 because these courses are antirequisites to each other and space is limited.

Do not enrol in more than one SS Research Course as a method of 'shopping' for courses. That tactic is unfair to other students because it artificially inflates enrolment numbers, shuts out legitimate requests, and causes waiting lists unnecessarily.

Priority enrolment in SS Advanced Research Methods Courses Fall 2013 will be given to those taking Psych 391 Fall 2013.

  2. Natural Science (NS) Advanced Research Methods courses:

You are only allowed to take 1 of Psych 392, 394, 396, 398 because these courses are antirequisites to each other and space is limited.

Do not enrol in more than one NS Research Course as a method of 'shopping' for courses. That tactic is unfair to other students because it artificially inflates enrolment numbers, shuts out legitimate requests, and causes waiting lists unnecessarily.

Priority enrolment in the NS Advanced Research Methods Courses Winter 2014 (expecting 3 or 4 choices) will be given to those taking Psych 391 Fall 2013.
    Update Sept 20, 2013 - All of Psych 392, 394, 396, 398 will be offered Winter 2014.

Priority enrolment in the NS Advanced Research Methods Course(s) Spring 2014 (expecting 1 or 2 choices) will be given to those in the Co-op stream of study.
Update Sept 20, 2013 - Psych 392 will not be offered Spring 2014. Psych 398 will be the only NS Advanced Research Methods Course offered Spring 2014.

Reminder:
Those who don't plan to do an Honours Thesis (Psych 499ABC) may replace 1 (not both) of the 2 Advanced Research Methods Course requirements (either Natural or Social Science) with one of the following courses:

Priority enrolment for honours seminars

  • priority for the Honours Seminar in the Spring term will be given to those in the Co-op stream of study.
