Departmental Award - For Distinguished Academic Achievement 2014/2015

Frank Mu

Xiao Qi (Frank) Mu is the Honours Psychology (BA) recipient of the 2014/2015 ‘Departmental Award - For Distinguished Academic Achievement’.

Frank graduated October 2014 with Honours Psychology and Arts and Business Coop.  He is a current graduate student in the I/O area in Psychology at Waterloo.

Four Psych Professors receive Outstanding Performance Award

Dr. Jonathan Fugelsang, Dr. Evan Risko, Dr. Joanne Wood and Dr. Erik Woody  will receive the Outstanding Performance Award this year, based on their record of excellence in teaching and scholarship in 2014. This well-deserved recognition serves as a "thank you" for their outstanding contributions to the professional life of the University of Waterloo.

How Do Young Children Develop Language?

From the time parents find out that they are expecting they begin to worry about how their child is developing. They obsess over metrics, percentiles and even anecdotes to determine whether their child’s development is on track or, even better, whether they will be ahead of the pack.

Geoffrey T. Fong elected a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences

Geoffrey T. Fong has been elected a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.  This is a signal honour, on par with election to the Royal Society of Canada.

Psychology at Waterloo in the Top 100!

The latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world ranking of universities and departments places Waterloo Psychology in the top 100 worldwide.  We’re in good company with other Waterloo departments – Architecture, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science, Geography, Sociology, Statistics, and three of the Engineering departments.  You can read more about this in the President’s message to the university:
