Implementation Science; A Pracademics Perspective - Dr. Jack BellExport this event to calendar

Monday, December 5, 2016 — 1:00 PM EST
The SPHHS GSA is pleased to host Jack Bell of the University of Queensland, Australia for a talk entitled: Implementation Science; A Pracademics Perspective.

All students and faculty are welcome!

"Are randomised controlled trials the pinnacle of research methodology? How do we identify the ‘unknown unknowns’ that are the root cause of wicked health issues? Why do interventions with proven benefit fail to progress to routine practice application? And finally, why do some people catch more fish than others?

Come and hear an Aussie’s perspective of why implementation science may be the catalyst required to improve stubbornly resistant healthcare problems."

Jack is an Advanced Accredited Practicing Dietitian with about 2 decades experience in major teaching hospitals as a clinician, researcher, and clinical service manager. Jack juggles activities across roles including Senior Dietitian, conjoint senior lecturer with the University of Queensland, Principal Research Fellow within the Metro North Allied Health Research Collaborative and researcher with a number of large projects including the More-2-Eat program in Canada. His doctoral thesis considered nutrition care in hip fracture inpatients, and established a framework for how clinicians can do research within the scope of routine clinical practice. Jack is happily married and his kids are busting to come to Canada next time to ski Whistler
