World Health Day celebrates the beginning of the World Health Organization (WHO). Each year the WHO picks a current hot topic in the field of public health to promote and raise awareness. This event is a great opportunity for students who are interested in health, social sciences, social justice and community development.
The hot topic for World Health Day @ Waterloo 2014 is vector-borne diseases.
The day will include a morning session focused on learning about what vector-borne diseases are and why they are a big public health issue. The afternoon session will focus on what we can do to raise awareness and to stop the spread of these diseases.
