"An Agrarian Interlude"

We briefly (and informally) discuss the sheaf of smooth functions on a differentiable manifold, which will motivate the definition of an abstract sheaf on an arbitrary topological space $X$. We then define the \emph{stalk} of a sheaf at a point $x \in X$, and discuss properties of morphisms. Time permitting, we show how a sheaf on a base of neighborhoods of $X$ may be extended uniquely to a sheaf on $X$, which result we apply to define the structure sheaf of an affine scheme.
