Events - October 2013

Thursday, October 31, 2013 — 1:30 PM EDT

Chester Weatherby, Wilfrid Laurier University

"A generalization of Euler's theorem for (2k)."

We will explicitly evaluate the sum P n2Z 1 (n2+Bn+C)k for parameters B;C. The approach will involve Fourier methods as well as some simple combinatorics. Once an explicit form is calculated, we are able to say something about the transcendence of these sums in special cases.
