We will explicitly evaluate the sum P n2Z 1 (n2+Bn+C)k for parameters B;C. The approach will involve Fourier methods as well as some simple combinatorics. Once an explicit form is calculated, we are able to say something about the transcendence of these sums in special cases.
We will give a quick review from last time and will continue our discussion from last time.
This will cover section 3.3 on linear algebra background needed in the proof.
Background on stable polynomials (see section 3.2 of [MSS]) used in the proof of the Kadison-Singer conjecture.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Indigenous Initiatives Office.
