"Jordan property for algebraic groups in arbitrary characteristic"

Camille Jordan proved that in characteristic zero, any finite subgroup of the general linear group GLn contains a normal abelian subgroup, whose index is uniformly bounded by a constant depending only on n. Several generalizations have been made in positive characteristic for linear groups, including Brauer–Feit and Larsen–Pink. In this talk, I will describe some further generalizations to arbitrary algebraic group in arbitrary characteristic.
I will also talk about some applications to the automorphism groups of projective varieties.
