SUMMARY:Algebraic Geometry Working Seminar
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:ERIC BOULTER\, DEPARTMENT OF PURE MATHEMATICS\, UNIVERSITY OF W
ATERLOO\n\n\"Fourier Transforms in Algebraic Geometry\"\n\nThe Fourier tra
nsform is a powerful tool in real analysis and\ndifferential equations for
understanding families of functions. In\nthis talk\, we will discuss how
the philosophy of the Fourier transform\ncan be applied in algebraic geome
try to relate families of vector\nbundles on varieties which are so-called
“Fourier-Mukai pairs”. As\nan example\, we will look at the Fourier-M
ukai pairing between an\nabelian variety and its Picard group.
