 w of a known approach to the\nABC conjecture using modular forms. Then I w
 ill explain how this\napproach actually gives a partial result for the ABC
  conjecture and\nSzpiro’s conjecture. As a consequence\, we will obtain 
 a new\neffective proof of the finiteness of solutions to the S-unit equati
 on\,\nwhich does not involve linear forms in logarithms. This is joint wor
