SUMMARY:Algebraic Geometry Working Seminar
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:FRANCISCO VILLACIS\, DEPARTMENT OF PURE MATHEMATICS\, UNIVERSIT
 Y OF\nWATERLOO\n\n\"AN OVERVIEW OF THE GELFAND-CETLIN SYSTEM\"\n\nThe Gelf
and-Cetlin system is an integrable system first introduced by\nV. Guillemi
n and S. Sternberg in 1983 in order to study the\nquantization of complex
flag varieties. This integrable system shares\nmany properties with moment
maps coming from torus actions\, such as\nhaving a polytope as image and
the fibres above the interior points of\nthe polytope are Lagrangian tori.
There is one big difference between\ntoric moment maps and the Gelfand-Ce
tlin system: the latter allows for\nLagrangian fibres which are not tori.
This phenomenon makes this\nsystem an important object to study in the con
text of mirror\nsymmetry.  In this talk\, I will give a brief overview of
the\nGelfand-Cetlin system and discuss the classification by Y. Cho\, Y.
 \nKim and Y-G. Oh of the Lagrangian fibres.\n\nMC 5417
