SUMMARY:Learning Seminar on Optimal Transport

DESCRIPTION:This learning seminar will consist in a sequence of three meeti
 ngs\,\naiming to discuss the basics of the Monge transport problem and the
 \nduality theorem of Kantorovich concerning optimal transport. The\nnecess
 ary background on convex analysis will also be reviewed as part\nof these 
 meetings. The main reference we will follow is Chapter 5 of\nthe monograph
  \"Optimal transport: old and new\" by Cedric Villani\n(Springer 2008).\n\
 nThe first meeting of the learning seminar is on Wednesday November 22\,\n
 at 3:30 pm. The main presenter will be Sina Hoveida\, who is a graduate\ns
