SUMMARY:Logic Seminar
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:ANDY ZUCKER\, DEPARTMENT OF PURE MATHEMATICS\, UNIVERSITY OF WA
 TERLOO\n\n\"ULTRACOPRODUCTS OF G-FLOWS\"\n\nGiven a topological group G\,
 a G-flow is a continuous action of G on a\ncompact Hausdorff space X. This
talk will discuss a notion of\nultracoproduct for G-flows\, which arise f
rom considering ultraproducts\nof commutative G-C*-algebras by Gelfand dua
lity. We apply the\nconstruction to develop an understanding of the proper
 ties of various\nclasses of subflows of a flow\, i.e. minimal\, topologica
lly transitive\,\netc. For groups which are locally Roelcke precompact\, u
ltracoproducts\nof G-flows lead to a well-behaved notion of weak containme
nt for a\nwide class of G-flows\, and in particular for all G-flows when G
is\nlocally compact. In joint work with Gianluca Basso\, we apply\nultrac
oproducts of G-flows to achieve a new characterization of those\nPolish gr
oups G with the property that every minimal flow has a\ncomeager orbit.\n\
