SUMMARY:Grad Student Colloquium
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:LARISSA KROELL\, UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO\n\nWhat’s that called
again? An incomplete journey through ridiculous\nmath names\n\nMost of us
have heard of some interestingly named mathematical\ntheorems and objects
  — some justified others not so much.\nAdditionally\, all of us have to
deal with the overuse of certain\nadjectives leading to some regular confu
sion and having to delete\nnormal from our day-to-day vocabulary. (And don
’t even get me\nstarted on anything quantum.) In this talk we will go ov
er some of\nthese weirdly named objects and particularly bad examples of\n
not-so-helpful mathematical names. No math was harmed in the making of\nth
 is talk.\n\nMC 5417 - Refreshments start at 16:30pm
