SUMMARY:Analysis Seminar
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:LARISSA KROELL\, UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO\n\nAnalysis Seminar: In
 jective Envelopes for partial C*-dynamical systems\n\nGiven a C*-dynamical
system\, a fruitful avenue to study its properties\nhas been to study the
dynamics on its injective envelope. This\napproach relies on the result o
f Kalantar and Kennedy (2017)\, who show\nthat C*-simplicity can be charac
terized via the Furstenberg boundary\nusing injective envelope techniques.
Inspired by this use case\, we\ngeneralize the notion of injective envelo
pe to partial C*-dynamical\nsystems. Partial group actions are a generaliz
ation of group actions\nand first introduced for C*-algebras by Ruy Exel (
1994) to express\ncertain C*-algebras as crossed products by a single part
ial\nautomorphism. In this talk\, we give a short introduction to partial\
nactions and show the existence of an injective envelope for unital\nparti
al C*-dynamical systems. Additionally\, we discuss its connection\nto enve
loping actions. This is based on joint work with Matthew\nKennedy and Cami
 la Sehnem.\n\nMC 5417
