SUMMARY:Geometry and Topology Seminar
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:ENRIC SOLÉ-FARRÉ\, UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON\n\nThe Hitchin a
nd Einstein indices of cohomogeneity one nearly Kahler\nmanifolds\n\nNearl
y Kähler manifolds are Riemannian 6-manifolds admitting real\nKilling spi
nors. They are the cross-sections of Riemannian cones with\nholonomy G2. L
ike the Einstein equation\, the nearly Kähler condition\nhas a variationa
l interpretation in terms of volume functionals\, first\nintroduced by Hit
chin in 2001.\n\nThe existence problem for nearly Kähler manifolds is poo
rly\nunderstood\, and the only currently known inhomogeneous examples were
\nfound in 2017 by Foscolo and Haskins using cohomogeneity one methods.\nF
or one of their examples\, we establish non-trivial bounds on the\ncoindex
of the Hitchin-type and Einstein functionals. We do this by\nanalysing th
e eigenvalue problem for the Laplacian on coclosed\nprimitive (1\,1)-forms
  under a cohomogeneity-one symmetry assumption.\n\nMC 5417
