 hing new this week and I will give an overview of the\ntheory of finitely 
 generated subgroups of the group of invertible\nmatrices over the complex 
 numbers. In partic- ular\, we will look at\nthe so-called ”ping pong lem
 ma”\, which gives a strategy for\nshowing that certain non-abelian subgr
 oups of linear groups are in\nfact free groups.
