DESCRIPTION:JAMIE MURDOCH\, PURE MATHEMATICS\, UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO\n\n\"
ALMOST EVERY SET OF THE CORRECT DENSITY IS Λ(P)\"\n\nI give an overview o
f Bourgain’s argument in his 1989 paper\, Bounded\northogonal systems an
d the Λ(p)-set problem. Through a rather complex\nargument\, Bourgain was
able to show\, using elementary probabilistic\nmethods\, that for any 2 <
p < ∞\, almost every random set is Λ(p)\,\nwhere the mean density of t
he random sets is 2/p. Prior attempts at\nthis problem
