“The Corona Problem”

The corona theorem is a celebrated result about maximal ideals of the algebra of all bounded analytic functions on the unit disc. It is an open question if an analogue of the corona theorem for functions on the unit ball holds. This question is known as the corona problem, and it has connections to operator theory, function theory and geometry. I will talk about the theorem, the problem, and possibly about astronomy and Mexican beer.
