"How Prime Gaps Were Bounded"

One of the most well-known conjectures in Number Theory is the Twin Prime Conjecture. Though currently unattainable, it is now known that there are infinitely many primes less than 600 apart in difference. In this presentation, we aim to cover some of the ideas which led to this result starting with the Bombieri-Vinogradov Theorem and a brief examination of the work of Goldston, Pintz, and Yildirim. An overview of Zhang's proof of his first bound and Maynard's refinement is then explored.
