“Invariant basis number and finiteness”

Everyone knows that a vector space V over a field has a basis whose cardinality is uniquely determined and who determines the isomorphism type of V . In particular it’s impossible for F3 to be isomorphic to F2 as vector spaces. This latter fact is even true over any commu- tative ring. Over an arbitrary ring this can fail variously, and the most exotic examples are noncommutative. In this talk we will introduce these properties, as well as how they can be mitigated and predicted.
