Congratulations to Pure Math/C&O student, Maria Esipova, a 2023 recipient of the Jessie W.H. Zou Memorial Award. The award was established by Computer Science professor Ming Li in honor of his late wife Jessie Wenhui Zou, with the aim of celebrating undergraduate research done by students now in their final year at Waterloo. Maria shares this honour with Software Engineering student, Vikram Subramanian.
On March 1, 2023, Pure Math participated in the first ever "Math Teach-Off" event. The premise of the event was simple: three groups of students would take a quiz on a mathematical concept.
Congratulations to Pure Math PhD candidate Jacob Campbell, a 2023 recipient of the Faculty of Mathematics Graduate Research Excellence Award. The prestigious recognition comes with a $5,000 cash prize and is conferred annually to two graduate students in the Faculty of Mathematics who have authored or co-authored an outstanding research paper. Jacob shares this honour with recent Computer Science master’s graduate Mahbod Majid.
