Students from the University of Waterloo will offer a day of free family programming in the community on Saturday.
The students from the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies will present Waterloo West Neighbourhood Fest at the John M. Harper Branch of the Waterloo Public Library and the Stork Family YMCA.
Join us at an event that will provide you with information about graduate studies.
The session will include an overview of the application process as well as information about funding and scholarships. There will also be a focus on AHS graduate level programs with breakout rooms to answer questions about Kinesiology, Recreation and Leisure Studies, and the School of Public Health and Health Systems.
Professor Simone Fullagar will be visiting Waterloo from the University of Bath in the U.K. Simone is this years 2015 Shaw-Mannell Leisure Research Award winner and will be giving a public lecture and will be made available for a reception afterwards.
Her lecture will be on "Embodied minds and gendered lives: Leisure practices as sites of social transformation". Simone will speak to research on women's everyday leisure practices and embodied well-being and offer a feminist perspective on the material, affective and discursive forces that shape ‘freedom’ within advanced liberalism.
