For more than 50 years, the University of Waterloo has offered courses in religious studies. Religious Studies offers several plans for undergraduate students. Religious Studies is also a great complement to other plans where students can pursue a joint honours degree or a minor. The department also operates a Ph.D. program, unique in North America, specializing in religion and culture in North America.
Our faculty have varied research interests, with expertise spanning a wide range of topics. Religious Studies professors also contribute to other university departments and programs, including: Jewish Studies, Social Development Studies, Sex, Marriage, and the Family, Fine Arts, Sociology, Peace and Conflict Studies, Beyond Borders, and Graduate Theological Studies.
