 gly under attack in\nFrance in the last 10 years. In 2004\, religious symb
 ols were banned in\npublic high schools\, and in 2011\, covering the face 
 in public spaces\nwas prohibited. These measures were largely a response t
 o\, and have\ndisproportionately affected\, Muslim communities – especia
 lly Muslim\nwomen. They may also be jeopardizing pluralism\, democracy\, a
 nd certain\nconceptions of freedom.
