Marker needed for Winter 2015

Religious Studies needs a marker for an undergraduate course for the winter 2015 term.  If you are interested in this position please send your cv to Fiona McAlister by Friday December 12.

Qualifications:  Must be a current graduate student or have completed a graduate program in religious studies or related discipline.  

This position is for 40 hours during the term and the rate of pay is $30.15/hour.

Why We Must Accomodate: Competing Human Rights at York

Earlier this year, York University sociology professor Paul Grayson went public with a student’s request for religious accommodation, outlining the case as a conflict between “parochial religious rights” and universal human rights. He later affirmed his support for Quebec’s Charter of Values. This talk looks at the relationship of religion, human rights, secularism, and multiculturalism in Canadian public life.
