Honours Arts/ Honours Arts and Business admission requirements for Ontario high school students

Admission average:

Honours Arts: Low 80s 

Honours Arts and Business: Low 80s (co-op and regular)

Required courses:

Any Grade 12 English 4U -- A minimum grade of 70 is required

Recommended courses:

For Social Science programs such as Anthropology; Economics; Political Science; Psychology; Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies; Social Development Studies; or Sociology:

Mathematics of Data Management

For Economics: Calculus and Vectors is also recommended; however, you may decide to take an introductory calculus course in first year to acquire additional background.

General requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Grade 12 U or M courses must be completed through a school that is inspected and approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education. 

  • Admission averages depend on the number of applications received and the number of spaces available. The range listed above is based on previous years. Updated ranges will be available in August 2017.

  • Repeated courses may be taken into consideration depending on the program.

  • If your first language is not English, you may need to meet our English language requirements.

  • An Admission Information Form must be filled out for most programs. Instructions will be included with the acknowledgment of your application.

  • If you are applying for upper-year admission to Honours Arts and Business Regular (non-co-op), we strongly recommend academic experience in business-related courses such as microeconomics or introduction to business. For some majors, previous courses in your subject of major interest may be required.

Honours Arts/ Honours Arts and Business admissions requirements for Ontario college transfer students

Admission average:

  • Graduates of a 1-year certificate need a minimum cumulative college average of 80%.

  • Graduates of a 2- or 3-year diploma need a minimum cumulative college average of 75%.

Transfer credits:

  • Graduates of 1-year certificate: up to 2.5 units (5 courses).

  • Graduates of 2-year diploma: up to 5.0 units (10 courses).

  • Graduates of 3-year diploma: up to 7.5 units (15 courses).
