On Saturday, February 27, take a trip to the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto! The cost of $35 includes bus fare, museum admission fee, and a guided tour, and this trip is open to anyone. The deadline to sign up is Friday, February 12, and payment is required at the time of registration. Please contact Soheila Esfahani to reserve your spot. The museum opened in September 2014, and offers exhibitions of artistic, intellectual and scientific heritages of Islam and its civilizations from across the Iberian Peninsula to Asia. It exhibits both permanent collections and contemporary art. The museum has gained critical acclaim for its architecture and design by the Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki, who used light as his inspiration. The museum sits within a larger complex, across which is the Ismaili Center designed by world-renowned architect Charles Correa. The itinerary for the day:

  • 9:30 - bus departs UWaterloo
  • 11:00 - bus arrives at the museum
  • 11:30 - guided tour of the permanent collection
  • 12:30 - lunch; self-guided visit of the contemporary exhibitions
  • 2:45 - tour of the Ismaili Centre
  • 4:00 - bus departs Aga Khan Museum
  • 5:30 - bus arrives at UWaterloo
