Renison Professor Receives Award for Work with International Interfaith Communities

WATERLOO, Ontario (November 28) - On Saturday, November 12, 2011, Professor Dr. M. Darrol Bryant of Renison University College received the Huston Smith Award for Interfaith Education from the Council of Interfaith Communities of the United States (CIC-USA) at the 10th Anniversary gathering of Interfaith Grand River (IGR) in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

A Presentation by Professor David A. Welch

WATERLOO, Ontario (November 14, 2011) On Wednesday, November 16, 2011, Renison University College presents Professor David A. Welch discussing, “Why should we be studying Japan more, not less?”

The presentation takes place from 2:30 pm to 3:50 pm in Room 2101 (the Keiko and Charles Belair Centre for East Asian Studies) at Renison University College.

Grand Opening of Sakura Japanese Language School at Renison University College

WATERLOO, Ontario (October 24, 2011) This Saturday, October 29, will mark the official grand opening of the Sakura Japanese Language School at Renison University College.

The event begins at 11:00 am and will feature a number of speakers: Consul General Eiji Yamamoto, Consulate General of Japan (Toronto); Peter Braid, MP Kitchener-Waterloo; Stephen Woodworth, MP Kitchener; Elizabeth Witmer, MPP Kitchener-Waterloo; and Ken Seiling, Waterloo Regional Chair.  There will also be a Mochi making demonstration beginning at 10:30 am.

CI hosts international Symposium in Commemoration of the 1911 Chinese Revolution

Writers, critics, historians, publishers, editors, community leaders, scholars from Canada, United States, mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan will gather this week  to participate in a series of events hosted by the Confucius Institute at the University of Waterloo in Renison University College to commemorate the 100th anniversary of  the 1911 Chinese Revolution.

Renison Professor Receives Laurier’s 100 Alumni of Achievement Award

WATERLOO, Ontario (September 20, 2011) – Dr. Daniel C. Andreae, a long time Teaching Associate at Renison, has been identified as one of the 100 most exceptional graduates from Wilfrid Laurier University.
