Last week, Professor Yan Li served as a judge for the “Chinese Panda Cup” Students’ Chinese Essay Competition. Co-hosted by the Chinese Culture and Education Society of Canada (CCESC) and the Canada-Times, the competition was open to all Grade 5 to Grade 12 students in both Ontario and Manitoba.
Julia Williams, director of English Language Studies at Renison, presented at the 2015 TESL Canada Conference in Lake Louise, Alberta, last week. Her session, "English Language and Literature: An Uneasy Alliance?" discussed how an alliance between the two fields is not currently possible given the negative view of second language teaching translingualism projects.
