For immediate release
WATERLOO, Ontario (July 19, 2010) – More than 90 students from top universities across China will be arriving at Renison University College next week to begin the English For Academic Success program (EFAS). EFAS is a six-week intensive program that offers students the opportunity to improve their English in order to prepare them for studies at the University of Waterloo.
EFAS is open to anyone wishing to study English as a second language, but most students are those participating in the 2+2 program at the University of Waterloo.
The 2+2 program is run in partnership with select universities in China. Chosen students from these universities are awarded the opportunity to complete two years at Waterloo and two years at their home university, and earn two degrees as a result. Participants must complete the EFAS program before beginning their two years of study at the University of Waterloo. The EFAS program is designed to help these students improve their academic English as well as acclimatize to student life at the University of Waterloo.
About 60 of the 2+2 students in the EFAS program are destined for studies in the Faculty of Science at Waterloo, while another 30 or so will be studying with the Faculty of Environment. The Science students come from various top universities across China and the Environment students are from Nanjing University of Finance and Economics.
The 2+2 students will be staying in residence at Renison and St. Paul’s for the duration of the EFAS program.
You can visit the website to find out more information about EFAS.
