Professor Kristina Llewellyn speaking at Reconciliation Forum

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

Professor Kristina Llewellyn has been invited to speak in a panel discussion that will be recorded for broadcast on BBC World Service’s “The Forum”. Moderated by BBC’s diplomatic correspondent Bridget Kendall, this panel discussion will feature prominent international thinkers as they discuss and debate the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report that concluded that residential schooling was "cultural genocide." It will ask questions about the healing process between victims and aggressors, what role education has to play, how to examine reconciliation through a restorative lens, opening old wounds, scientific approaches to trauma, and the responsibility inherited by future generations. Professor Llewellyn will join the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada The Honourable Justice Murray Sinclair and Research Fellow in Psychiatry at McLean Hospital’s Neurobiology of Fear Laboratory Torsten Klengel.
