Renison Hosts the 18th Annual “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition

This past weekend, Renison welcomed university students from across Ontario for an annual competition of Chinese language skills. Coordinated by Renison’s Professor Yan Li with the support of Toronto’s Chinese Consulate, contestants demonstrated their Chinese language skills throughout the competition, which included speeches and a talent show. Among the highlights were Chinese songs, Tai Chi, traditional folk music, tongue twisters, Bejing Opera, and a puppet show.

After a full day of competition, Christopher Kelayna from York University placed first. Natalie Bell from University of Toronto shared second place with Vera Kornilovsky from York University.  Two University of Waterloo students,  Wilfred Evertsz and Ahmed Sabie, won third prize along with Amra Mujithaba from York University.
