Renison Professor Christine Logel, along with three other awardees, is the recipient of this year’s Equity and Inclusivity Award, presented by the Equity Committee of the University of Waterloo’s Faculty Association. Rather than present only one award, the committee felt that it needed to break with tradition and select multiple winners given the number and quality of nominees.
The Equity and Inclusivity Award recognizes a member or affiliate of the University of Waterloo community whose actions have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to improving equity, inclusivity, and/or diversity at the University of Waterloo.
Logel is an associate professor of Social Development Studies at Renison University College and champion for marginalized students whose work on social-belonging interventions have had tremendous positive, lasting impacts among women in engineering.
Commenting on this recognition, Logel said, “the work I do is only possible because I am surrounded by people who value equity and inclusivity, and live and work consistently with those values.”
