Bio

Professor Arshi Shaikh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Development Studies, Renison University College, University of Waterloo. She is a registered social worker in the province of Ontario. Professor Shaikh completed her doctoral studies in Interdisciplinary Rural and Northern Health at Laurentian University. Subsequently, she completed post-doctoral research in the intersecting realms of aging, health and housing at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Law, Laurentian University. Professor Shaikh’s current research interests include animal hoarding behaviour, permanent supportive housing, and homelessness. In collaboration with the community-based agency, Supportive Housing of Waterloo (SHOW), Professor Shaikh is leading two research projects funded by the SSHRC Insight Development Grant and SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant.
