Renison offers a unique Bachelor of Arts (BA) program in Social Development Studies, the flexibility of an Honours Arts program with more than 25 major possibilities, and several courses in 3 East Asian cultures and languages.

The College was named in memory of Robert John Renison, a former Metropolitan of Ontario and Archbishop of Moosonee.
On July 1, 1960, Renison entered an affiliation agreement with the University of Waterloo with the right to offer Arts courses and academic plans for credit towards a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University. The University transferred 5 acres of land on the west side of its campus and the College purchased an additional acre.
