Renison professor recognized by Arts Awards Waterloo Region in the visual arts category

Soheila Esfahani holds up Arts Awards Waterloo Region trophyArts Awards Waterloo Region held its 28th Annual Arts Awards Gala on Thursday, June 23rd at Humanities Theatre. This event was created to celebrate artists in the Waterloo community and to showcase the thriving community of artists that exists in this area. Professor Soheila Esfahani who you would have heard about or at least have seen some of the teaching she does at Renison if you saw the art installations around Renison from her Calligraphy to Conceptual Art class in the Studies in Islam program took home the award for the visual arts category.

When asked for comment on her award, Professor Esfahani said, "I am honoured to be recognized by my peers and the arts community in the Region. Recieving an award in my own community makes it very special."

She added, "When I won the award, I felt that all my struggles as an artist paved the way to this moment."
