I am delighted to be sending holiday greetings from the beautiful city of Stockholm where we are celebrating a tremendous achievement – Professor Donna Strickland’s Nobel Prize in Physics.
There’s an exciting energy here as we share this special time with Donna. Her dedication and commitment to research have led her to this remarkable accomplishment. We are so proud of her and honoured to share this moment with her.
As we celebrate Donna’s success, I also want to thank each of you for your commitment and dedication to research at Waterloo each and every day. Throughout 2018, we have seen our research excellence deliver impact locally, nationally and globally. As Vice-President Research and International, that makes me so very proud. Thank you to our faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows and staff, as well as our research partners who share in our research and help us bring our work to the world.
Thank you to the teams in the Office of Research, Waterloo International, the Faculties, our Centres and Institutes across campus, and the entire Waterloo community. Your work is advancing research at Waterloo in so many different and important ways.
At this special time of year, be sure to take time for those near and dear to you and those in our community who may find this time of year a difficult one. All the best to you and yours this holiday season. I look forward to continuing our work together to make 2019 another memorable year for Waterloo.
