Brantford - History, Art and SongExport this event to calendar

Wednesday, May 17, 2017 (all day)

Please join us for an inspiring day of education and entertainment!

We begin our day with a morning drive to the Six Nations Indian Reserve on the southern edge of Brantford, and to their Woodland Cultural Centre, where we will enjoy a guided tour of their museum, containing the largest collection of First Nations artifacts in Canada . The archaeological and ethnographic collections are presented in a dramatic storyline beginning with the Iroquoian and Algonkian prehistoric past through to the 21st century. Following that, we will have time to browse the offerings in the Art Gallery, which will be special, as it will be the time of their annual Art Show!

At noon, we will remain at Woodland, for an indoor ‘picnic’ lunch featuring salads, sandwiches and desserts, as provided by Al Dente Restaurant, a local eatery of high reputation!

An early afternoon boarding of our coach will take us to downtown Brantford and the Sanderson Centre, a beautifully restored theatre, dating to 1919, where The Voices of Showtime, a group of fourteen male songsters and instrumentalists, will entertain us with fun-filled renditions of our favourite Jukebox tunes from the golden era. Their marvelous music and lively stage antics feature the very best songs of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, with familiar tunes performed originally by Sinatra, Paul Anka, The Platters, The Diamonds, The Four Freshmen, The Beach Boys, Nat King Cole, The Crew Cuts, Cole Porter, Glenn Miller and many more!
