“Pipelines, Tar Sands and the Climate” - Hosted by KW Chapter of Council of Canadians, Divest Waterloo, UW Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change (IC3) and Faculty of Environment

Tuesday, June 18, 2019

The KW Chapter of the Council of Canadians has joined with Divest Waterloo, UW’s IC3 (Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change) and Faculty of Environment to plan two events coming in June.  Our goal is to engage participants more deeply on the climate emergency and to contribute to a Green New Deal for Canada, an action plan built from the grassroots.  Similar events are happening now right across Canada.  We invite you to participate and request that you help us to spread the invitation by sharing this e-mail with your friends and community members.

June 18, 2019 Lecture and panel discussion at the University of Waterloo.  Dr. Gordon Laxer, political economist, founder of the Parkland Institute of Alberta and specialist in pipelines, energy and the environment will present the keynote, “Pipelines, Tar Sands and the Climate”.  Following the lecture, Dr. Angela Carter, Assistant Professor, Political Science & Balsillie School of International Affairs Fellow, University of Waterloo, and Dr. John Peters, Associate Professor, Labour Studies, Laurentian University, will engage in discussion and Q&A.  Please join us.  Find more details and RSVP at http://act.greennewdealcanada.ca/town-halls/waterloo8
