Oliver Schneider

Assistant Professor

Professor Oliver Schneider
Professor Oliver Schneider is an expert on haptics, haptic computing, and human-computer interaction. He is working on methods to facilitate the widescale deployment of haptic technology.

Professor Schneider believes that the limiting factor in the spread of haptic technology is the lack of computing tools – systems that enable the large-scale creation, deployment, and study of haptic feedback. Without these tools, haptic technology will be limited to small, in-lab studies and slow deployment into commercial applications.

His long-term goal is a suite of haptic computing tools to assist the creation, deployment, and study of haptic technology. These tools can then be used widely as part of our interactions with computers, robots, and other machines.

See Professor Schneider's faculty profile and lab website for more details about his work outside the RoboHub.
