State-of-the-art robot impresses in RoboHub debut

The latest addition to the RoboHub, a new, state-of-the-art robotics facility at Waterloo Engineering, took its first tentative but impressive steps during an impromptu demonstration this week.

A full-size, electric, humanoid robot capable of seeing, hearing and feeling the world around it via sensors, it also shuffled sideways, waved and took a bow as students stopped to shoot videos with their smartphones through the glass walls.

Top robotics researcher coming to Waterloo from UK

A leading international researcher is joining Waterloo Engineering as part of a federal initiative to attract top-tier scientists and scholars to do groundbreaking work in Canada.

Kerstin Dautenhahn, one of the founders of the field of social robotics, was announced today as a Canada 150 Research Chair with funding for the next seven years.
