Batteries

Work involving lithium cells and batteries continues to increase across the University. To work with these batteries safely, workers need to be fully aware of the hazards they present and how to best control those hazards. To support those working with these batteries, the University has developed the Lithium Cell and Battery Standard. This standard provides guidance on the handling, storage, creation, and disposal of lithium batteries and cells.

See the Lithium Cell and Battery Standard for more information.

Training

The following training from the Nasa Engineering & Safety Centre is not mandatory, but it is recommended for everyone working with lithium cells and batteries:

Lithium-Ion Batteries: Fundamental Concepts, Heating Mechanisms, and Simulation Techniques
