Join me as I run from the Optometry building to Renison University College in 10 minutes. Let this be a cautionary tale to not bite off more than you can chew.
Despite all the warnings from fellow students about the workload in 2A, I was overjoyed when I got into the course JAPAN 101R. Perhaps I was overzealous—and maybe a little naïve—when I jumped at the opportunity to take a sixth full-credit course on top of everything else.
My Mondays and Wednesdays are typically swamped with classes, beginning at 10:00 AM and ending at 5:20 p.m. The lectures themselves are rather uneventful; the real fun is running across campus like a fool because I'm late. At 11:20 a.m., I get the exciting chance to run from the Optometry building to Renison University College (a 1 km distance) to catch my Japanese tutorial. It is simply exhilarating when I arrive late for each one of my quizzes. As such, I would like to thank whoever organized my schedule for adding excitement to my otherwise uneventful day and giving me the wonderful opportunity to exercise. After all my classes have ended, I return home to take notes and prepare for upcoming tutorials.
Fortunately, the rest of my week is relatively open. I take this time to do the things I enjoy, such as hanging out with my roommates, calling my non-Waterloo friends, taking walks, and binging anime. It only took me until this term to discover how important it is to take time for myself rather than constantly worrying about classes and deadlines. Don't get me wrong, I love what I'm doing, but I don't think I will be overloading on courses again in the future.
Now, as we are more than halfway through the term, I can say with the utmost confidence that I still need subtitles to watch anime.
